In 2010 Mike started investing in the real estate industry. He was excited to learn about a brand-new industry that he knew nothing about. This was a similar pattern since he knew nothing about the travel industry when he embarked on that new adventure. 

Over the course of the succeeding years, Mike acquired almost 25% of the 402 condominium units at 1400 North Lake Shore Drive, and became the President of the Condominium Board. On 22 November 2019, Mike sold the building to a large national real estate investor that was going to deconvert the building from condominiums to apartments. It was a very complex deal that took a year and half to bring to fruition. The building ultimately sold for 107 million dollars, which was the largest deconversion in the history of the United States. Mike continued to follow his interest in real estate by purchasing an apartment building in River North, Chicago.
