Arrington Travel Center

Founded in 1969, the Arrington Travel Center (ATC) was a cornerstone of Mike Arrington’s success. Fresh from the U.S. Marine Corp and University of Illinois, at 26 years old, Arrington borrowed $40,000 in capital to start his business. His overseas experience in the Marines had developed a love of travel. Headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, Arrington Travel Center (ATC) grew into the largest single-stockholder corporate travel management company in the United States.

In business for almost 30 years with revenues in the hundreds of millions of dollars, Mike Arrington was more than your average travel agent. Arrington Travel Center (ATC) was in all of the primary markets in the United States as well as London, England. He invested substantially in technology to meet his clients changing needs, including the largest nationwide network of Satellite Ticket Printers (STP) in the United States.

ATC developed many other technological innovations to maintain its leading edge in the travel industry. Arrington Travel had over 500 employees, generating over a quarter of a billion dollars in annual revenue, and served a wide variety of corporations and professional firms throughout the world.

In 1998, Arrington Travel was sold to Navigant International, a $5-billion, publicly traded company with representation in the 25 largest U.S. business travel markets. Navigant International was subsequently acquired by Carlson Wagonlit Travel, a multi billion dollar business travel management company operating in over 150 countries.
